Hey Noir, i’ll skip the pleasantries. You’ve been gone for too long, but i’ll leave this message incase you bother to read it, if you’re still alive or whatever.
I had an amusing conversation today.
You’ll never guess what it’s about. Remember our old professor we used to make fun of? Fellkin Zang? He mostly liked hearing himself talk, droning on and on about the purpose of law in a lawless universe, correct?
Mhmm. So Fellkin himself went into my office today, asking for some help. Legal trouble, of course. Turns out, he wanted to sue his neighbor for “stealing” his ship.
So I asked Fellkin the grand question: where’s the ship? He went on a long winded recount about how he was supposedly in some mining expedition in Sector VII. Something about getting chased by void beasts. Then crash landing somewhere in the Wolfwood of Inamorata.
Survived by some miracle, where Fang’s miners found him.
“You’ve made a generous donation to the Fang Familia.” I told him, quite calmly .
Fellkin just stood there, dumbfounded. I felt that I owed him a more nuanced explanation. “The Wolfwood has reclaimed your property” I tell him.
“It’s beyond the commerce of man now.” Fellkin stared at me, mouth agape, still waiting for the punchline.
“Respectfully, as you would be already aware, the ship’s gone derelict. You can’t sue for something that doesn’t belong to you anymore.” I could see the anger well up in Fellkin’s eyes.
That’s when he went on a tirade questioning the purpose of a legal system, coupled with some backhanded rhetoric about the value of my degree.
Fellkin is a very philosophical man, as you can see. I couldn’t help but agree with him. He made very convincing points. I’d love for you to meet him. Let’s catch up soon, Noir, wherever you are. I have more stories to tell. It’s getting painfully boring around here without you.
